6 Days in Punta Cana: An Honest Review of the 5* Meliá Punta Cana Hotel

Updated: Sep 17, 2023

Imagine stepping into a paradise where wellness and relaxation take center stage. That's exactly what our 6-day stay at the 5* Meliá Punta Cana Beach Hotel felt like. Located in the pristine beauty of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, this adults-only haven promised a Wellbeing 360 Experience like no other.

Prioritizing Your Wellbeing: The Resort's Wellness Offerings

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this resort was designed for pure rejuvenation. The Meliá Punta Cana is wellness-inclusive, although some premium experiences come with an extra fee.

The resort is a labyrinth of tranquility with five dedicated spaces for relaxation scattered throughout. These places of serenity, including a meditation spot, provide the perfect escape to unwind and find peace amidst the tropical beauty. Even though it might be full of tourists, you will always find a nice, quiet and peaceful place.

Workshops and Activities

Each day brought new opportunities for self-discovery and relaxation. The daily workshops and classes covered everything from reflexology and meditation to yoga and even a macramé class. The variety was impressive, catering to both beginners and those with more experience.

But it wasn't just about inner reflection. The resort's organized activities added a lively touch to our days. We danced to the rhythms of bachata in dance classes, had a lot of fun playing volleyball (even though it felt like a 100°C outside), and got our hearts pumping with aqua gym and aqua zumba sessions. There was always something exciting happening, should we choose to join in.

Now, Very Important: What About the Food?

When it came to dining, the Meliá Punta Cana didn't disappoint. An open bar, where you can have many different drinks, except for wine. With 3 to 4 restaurants included in the package, we also had plenty of options. Some were open buffets, while others offered a fixed menu. Breakfast was an absolute highlight, with the main beachfront restaurant serving an incredible buffet. From fluffy pancakes to fresh fruit, charcuterie, and more, there was something for every palate.

However, I must admit that dinner didn't quite match the breakfast experience. While the food was decent, it didn't quite reach the culinary heights we expected. Nevertheless, it's a minor quibble in an otherwise amazing stay.

My Personal Meliá Punta Cana Experience

My personal experience at the Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort was nothing but delightful. The beauty of the resort itself left me awestruck, and the warmth and kindness of the staff made the experience even more memorable. The activities were a blast, and the people who organized them were a joy to be around.

While the option to book outside activities existed, my partner and I opted for a more laid-back holiday, relishing in the relaxation the resort offered. It's worth mentioning that some of the external activities also came with a hefty price tag.

In a nutshell, our 6 days in Punta Cana at the 5* Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort was an indulgent escape into wellness and serenity. It's a place where time slows down, worries fade away, and you're left with the essence of what a vacation should truly be - pure bliss and a full belly. ;-)
